Star distance and knowledge

We all know that the velocity of light is 3*10^8 m/s in vacuum.
And This is also fact that we see things with the speed of light because light make each and every thing visible.
Now think about stars which are discovered by Our Giant Telescopes.
The all stars are very fare away from us. Like the star Proxima Centauri is nearest Star from our solar system and its distance is 4.24 light years away.

Now I want to say that if the nearest star is 4.24 light year away from us then we get the information about the star of past 4.24 light year.
That mean we don't know the current situation of the star. We have Information about the past 4.24 year of that star.

That mean this condition is fact for all the stars.
